The Dräger Alcotest® 7000 med is a special version from the proven Dräger Alcotest series and successor to the successful Alcotest® 6820 med. It is designed for diagnostic use and is approved as a medical device with the CE marking (medical device "Class 1m" according to Medical Device Regulation (MDR)). It offers a variety of features that facilitate daily medical use.

The Dräger Alcotest 7000 med is particularly suitable for medical use for determining the breath alcohol concentration. The required exhalation volume is significantly lower than with conventional breath alcohol measuring devices, since it is the medical impairment that counts here and it is not aimed at a possible fitness to drive. Sampling is set as an automatic measurement and does not require a fixed exhalation time or end volume, making it usable for patients with respiratory impairment. Similarly, the Alcotest 7000 med allows passive sampling for patients who are unable to provide a breath sample. This involves measuring the ambient air in the vicinity of the patient for the presence of alcohol. This medical device is used for rapid measurement of breath alcohol concentration - for example, to diagnose vascular injury in urology during transurethral prostate resections, TURP, or in gynecology during transcervical resections of the endometrium, TCRE, after prior application of an ethanol-containing irrigation solution, in the emergency department to test patients for prior alcohol consumption, or to detect alcohol co-use prior to methadone substitution.

Calibration:

We recommend sending in this alcohol measuring device for re-calibration at least every 12 months (a corresponding message is displayed by the Alcotest® 7000). The device will continue to function without calibration - but will become less accurate. The monthly drift of the sensor is 0.4%.
